On April 27, 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense officially declassified and released the FLIR1 (Tic-Tac), Gimbal, and GoFast Navy videos, acknowledging they depicted genuine, unexplained phenomena and stressing that the release revealed no sensitive capabilities. It was a key step in the government clarifying whether the circulating footage was authentic. That August, the Pentagon established the UAP Task Force (UAPTF) under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence — the first dedicated UAP oversight body since Blue Book.
