AARO assesses the roughly five-minute clip likely derives from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform operating in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility in 2020. A user uploaded it to a classified network in June 2024.
The footage shows an area of contrast appearing in the sensor's field of view, with the sensor zooming and panning to keep it in view and highlighting it with a reticle.
